L’Étape du Tour de France is coming up in less than 2 months, the event is getting closer and closer. The bodies are not yet quite ready to face this mythical mountain stage, yet our official bike is definitely ready. This is the Émonda SLR 9, the official bike of this stage of the Tour de France. The Émonda is the lightest bike in our road bike range.
But let’s take a look at what made our lightest bike even faster.
Crazy light, crazy fast
The all-new Émonda has aerodynamic tube shaping that helps riders go faster than ever on flats and climbs alike. And because we refused to sacrifice weight for speed, Émonda still has the incredible lightweight ride quality and balanced handling that made it a racing legend in the first place.
Methodology for success
We don’t shy away from a challenge – our goal was to create a bike that could scale Alpe d’Huez blazingly fast. If we could make Émonda the fastest bike up this legendary climb, it would be faster up anything. We just had to strike the perfect balance between weight and aerodynamics – not an easy task. It took over two years of research and development, state-of-the-art modelling software, and a brand-new carbon lay-up, but the all-new Émonda soars up the world’s most famous mountain.
Émonda 800 Series OCLV Carbon
Our lightest and fastest Émonda, this bike delivers incredible ride quality and aerodynamic advantage. Its frame is made of all-new 800 Series OCLV Carbon and weighs less than 700 grams.
Approved by the team
Trek-Segafredo team members’ prototype testing and feedback were crucial to the perfect feel of the Emanda. Riders start different races on a bike that handles incredibly well and is designed to gain speed on any kind of road. We know this bike is the fastest climber we’ve ever created, but we’re willing to bet our riders will prove it’s the fastest climber in the world.
You can be sure that the Trek-Segafredo riders will prefer this model to tackle this mountain stage between Briançon and Alpe d’Huez.
If you have the opportunity to come to the village of l’étape du Tour de France in Briançon, take a look at this machine, and for this special occasion we have produced it in 3 colors, blue, white, red…
