Trek and Voxwomen partner to provide free coverage of Giro Rosa
Free stream will be available on Trek's racing page and Voxwomen
[Waterloo, WI] — Trek and Voxwomen have partnered to bring the 2019 Giro Rosa to cycling fans around the world, providing a free hour-long broadcast of each of the race’s ten stages.
The episodes will air online shortly after the conclusion of the day’s Tour de France stage and will include English commentary, stage previews with Trek-Segafredo directors sportifs Ina Teutenberg and Girogia Bronzini, highlights from the full Giro Rosa stage, and post-race content.
The broadcast will be produced and managed by Voxwomen and easily accessible globally (except in Italy) on Trek’s racing page and Voxwomen’s website.
Trek has taken a leadership role in the growth of women’s cycling and has cited a need for greater media coverage and easier access for fans. The brand has previously provided free broadcasts of DVV cyclocross races and the Jens Voigt hour record. The broadcast of the Giro Rosa and Trek’s partnership with Voxwomen is a positive step intended to support the growing segment of women’s cycling.
The time is now for more women’s cycling,” said Tim Vanderjeugd, Trek’s Director of Sports Marketing. “The world is witnessing some of the best bike racing ever in the women’s peloton, and we feel a responsibility to provide more opportunities to watch it happen. Exposure is huge for cultivating the sport, and that combined with first-class athlete support is a true recipe for growth in women’s professional cycling.
Voxwomen is dedicated to creating more opportunities for coverage of the dynamic racing in the women’s field, so the decision to partner with Trek to broadcast the Giro Rosa was an easy one.
We are extremely excited to bring the Giro Rosa to fans of women’s cycling,” said Voxwomen founder Anthony McCrossan. “We have seen increased calls from fans, riders, and teams to put women’s cycling on a platform that makes it easily accessible for viewers. This has been part of our strategy in building Voxwomen as the go-to place for women’s cycling insight and coverage, and now we’re able to develop it. Trek has been a supporter of our goal from the start, and we’re excited to partner with them to make this landmark moment in women’s cycling coverage happen.
The 2019 Giro Rosa will run from July 5 – 14, and will include two individual time trials and two summit finishes. More information on the upcoming broadcast, including how and where to watch, will be available in the lead-up to the race.
